Champions Trophy 2013: South Africa beat Pakistan - Watch Video Highlights

Monday, 10 June 2013

South Africa won by 67 runs against Pakistan in ICC Champions Trophy 5th match, Group B Played at Edgbaston, Birmingham on 10th June 2013. Here watch the full match video highlights. Hashim Amla scored a fine 81 while Ryan McLaren (4/19), Lonwabo Tsotsobe (2/23) and Chris Morris (2/25) did well with the ball as South Africa registered a comfortable 67 run win against Pakistan.

That completes a big win for South Africa. Pakistan's net run rate will take a beating because of this and they are closer to elimination. To be frank, they were never in the race after losing the early wickets and the slow start. Jamshed and Misbah tried to resurrect the innings, but they could never get going. Once the skipper got out, it was all but over. AB de Villiers' captaincy must be heralded, he shuffled his bowlers admirably and kept the Pakistani batsmen under pressure.

Match Details:
South Africa won the toss and chose to bat
South Africa 234 for 9 (Amla 81)
Pakistan 167 (Misbah 55, McLaren 4-19)
South Africa won by 67 runs

Indian team will be very happy with their performance today. After being rocked early in their innings, the skipper combined well with Dinesh Karthik and shared a 211-run stand to give India a massive total. Australia needed to plan their chase very well, but unfortunately, their batsmen could only drag good balls onto their stumps and were never really in the game. Umesh Yadav was outstanding with the new ball. He gave nothing away and was well supported by the likes of Bhuvneshwar and Ishant. In the end, India complete a comprehensive 243-run win over the defending champions.

India have rolled up Australia for 65, with only two of their batsmen scoring in double figures. Yadav was the star, knocking over the first five wickets to fall even before he'd finished bowling five overs himself. This would have been the biggest loss for Australia in a One-Day game, if this was an official match.

Convincing win for Pakistan. They were never challenged by this score. Most of their top order batsmen spent some time in the middle with Farhat and Hafeez getting fifties. The Proteas bowling looked rusty and AB de Villiers tried out all his options. A morale boosting victory for Misbah's men while South Africa have a lot of work ahead of the tournament opener against India on the 6th of June.
